Like serpentine, steatite also has a great variety in pattern and colour. Steatite is composed of talcum minerals [Mg₆(OH)₄Si₈O₂]. This stone has a dense but soft structure, feels somewhat greasy and comes in many colours and grades of hardness. Steatite is, among others, found in Scandinavia, China, Zimbabwe, Brasil and India.
